Who We Are

Hilary Carr

Hilary lives in Cambridge and works in publishing (not the cool kind, but it’s still exciting for someone who carries a book with her everywhere). Her hobbies include yelling at people till they like the thing she is currently obsessed with and watching basically any miniseries. Her favorite local non-profits include Rosie’s Place, Families for Justice as Healing, and Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.

Lisa Eppich

Lisa is a professional writer who has had a strange and varied career. She got her start writing for the video game Shira Oka: Second Chances. It was a good game that too few people played. After graduating from Middlebury College, she became a staff writer and production assistant at Refinery29. There, she wrote over 500 articles (often about cats and K-pop) and produced hundreds of email newsletters. Today, she works as a grant writer and communications professional in the nonprofit world. Lisa has, arguably, too many hobbies. Her favorites right now include botanical fabric dyeing, quilting, playing bass guitar, tending to her one evil cat and one three-legged diabetic cat, and finishing the show Supernatural. Her favorite local non-profits include Health Equity International, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor 2.0, and Rosie’s Place.

Marisa LaFleur Janack

Marisa came to Boston to attend Emerson College and has been in love with the area ever since! She started her career in publishing, but recently made the jump to project management for a scientific research institute. In her previous job, she was the chair of the office volunteer committee for two years. She is originally from a small town in upstate NY and is grateful to have found this group of nerds with whom to share laughter, support, and an inordinate number of Facebook chats. She lives in Medford with her husband, Joe, and her dog, Luna. Her top pop culture obsessions include: Harry Potter, Hamilton, and 10 Things I Hate about You (or just about any Heath Ledger movie). Some of her favorite local non-profits are: 826 Boston, REACH beyond Domestic Violence, and Cradles to Crayons.

Ashley Poreda

Ashley has always had a passionate love for reading, reflected in her ten-year career in textbook publishing. After graduating from Emerson College in 2011, she has done everything from staging and taking photos for covers to tracking down authors through creative means in order to obtain their permission to use their work. She works as a Contract Specialist at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and lives in Medford with her sweet dog, Rosie, and her husband and number one COVEN craftsman, Jeff. One of her current hobbies is running a #bookstagram with her twin sister, Kayla, called @bookduorecs. She can quickly get obsessed with any form of pop culture and is desperately trying to finish watching all of Survivor for the first time. Her favorite non-profits include Rosie’s Place, Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, and Transgender Law Center.

Michelle Rosenberg

Michelle moved to New England for graduate school and fell in love with Camberville and its nerdy charms. She’ll go to pretty much any silly Cambridge or Somerville festival, but LitCrawl and Porchfest are her favorites. Michelle studied Public Policy at Brown University and has worked in non-profit fundraising for nearly a decade. Her current hobbies include trying to learn calligraphy, hosting elaborate dinner parties, and training her dog to do useless tricks. Her favorite local non-profits are the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, and Health Equity International.
